Young, synchronized skaters win championship

The Rink Side Extreme Formation Team from Rink Side Ice Arena in Gurnee won the 15th annual ISI Synchronized World Skating Championships that took place April 8 through 10 at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville.

The team, coached by Chelsea Schopper and Katy Hagen, has nine skaters between the ages of 5 and 10. This was the first competitive team on which most of the skaters participated.

The champion skaters include Gillian Agnew, Jennifer Stenzel, Isabella Lucero, Tess Elfering, Glen Gail Encarnacion, Emily Hehn, Allison Becker, Ashley Roeder and Emberlynn Roeder.
