Sow Belly’s carry-out next downtown eatery

DIXON – A new carry-out, Sow Belly’s, soon will replace The One and Only Nikos’.

Joe Battaglia, of Chicago, co-owner of Battaglia Distributing Corp., which services many Sauk Valley restaurants, bought the building at 92 S. Peoria Ave. for $28,000.

“I just bought the building as a business for my kids,” Battaglia said.

Two of his six children, Gina Battaglia, 25, and Joey Battaglia, 23, will run Sow Belly’s, a carryout restaurant that will offer Chicago-style pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers and the like.

“They are very good people,” Battaglia said. “They are very hard working and well-educated, the type of people who will look you in the eye and shake your hand.”

Workers already are remodeling the interior, and Battaglia said he expects Sow Belly’s to hold its grand opening in 3 or 4 weeks.
