Betty Larson-Johnson

Mrs. Betty Larson-Johnson, 86, of Morris, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 15, 2011, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St.,in Morris. Pastor Gerald Steele will officiate.

Interment will follow at Saratoga Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, until the time of service at Fruland Funeral Home.

Born June 13, 1924, in White County, Ind., Betty was the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Bell) Brown. She graduated from Sonamon High School with the class of 1942.

Betty married Blanchard "Butch" Larson on Sept. 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1974. She married Marion Johnson on Aug. 22, 1977. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2007.

She was employed at the Morris Bakery, served as secretary for attorney Erwin Godfrey, worked as assistant teacher at the ABC Nursery School and worked at the National Tea Store.

Survivors include two daughters, Judi (Vance) Jones of Morris and Jennifer (Paul) Ferguson of Morris; five grandchildren, Vance B. Jones, Cori (Brian) McTague, Erin (Mark) Wozniak, Derek (Katie) Ferguson and Jacob Ferguson; three great-grandsons, Justin, Shane and Nathan McTague; one brother, James (Delores) Brown of Wood River, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Fosdick of Rockford, Ill., and Phyllis Fitzsimmons of Pontiac, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded her in death by her parents; her two husbands; one son, Jay Larson, who died on Oct. 2, 1998; three brothers, Elmer, Clarence and Larry Brown; and one sister, Virginia Becktal.

She was a member of Friends In Christ Lutheran Church. She held various offices in the church. She also was a member of the quilting society and drove for Meals On Wheels.

She enjoyed writing poems, traveling and spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Memorials may be directed to Friends In Christ Lutheran Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice.

Her grandchildren and sons-in-laws will serve as pallbearers.
