Dr. John Roth, Jr., welcomes Dr. Erik Muraskas, former associate professor at Loyola University to his Obstetrics and Gynecology practice in Morris.
Dr. Muraskas received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and graduated cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago. He received his medical doctorate from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where he was distinguished as chief resident in 1985.
After serving as assistant clinical professor and assistant professor, he was promoted to associate professor — all with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.
During his teaching career there, he was awarded Outstanding Faculty Teacher of the Year numerous times by his medical students.
Additionally, in 2005, 2006 and 2007, Dr. Muraskas was among a handful of Loyola doctors named to the elite group of “America’s Top Doctors.” This was a result of peer nomination, surveying tens of thousands of medical doctors in leadership positions and in private practice, extensive research and careful review, and screening by Castle Connolly’s doctor-directed research team. This placed Dr. Muraskas in the top 1 percent of America’s doctors.
“I am thrilled to have a physician like Dr. Muraskas join my practice,” Dr. Roth says. “Being affiliated with a world-renowned teaching medical center such as Loyola gives any physician advantages; experience with a wide variety of patients; the chance to participate in cutting-edge medical research; numerous educational opportunities, which enhanced not only his students’ knowledge, but his own, on a continuing basis.
“I am excited for what the future may hold by bringing in an expert like Dr. Muraskas to our area.”
In 2007, Dr. Muraskas was voted Faculty Member of the Year by Stritch School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He is also a fellowed member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the American Heart Association, the Illinois Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
“I have dedicated my entire medical career to obstetrics and gynecology,” Muraskas said. “But beyond the clinical research and educating future doctors, my true passion is caring for patients; and I am excited to do so with such a well-respected physician like John Roth.”
Dr. Muraskas is dedicated to serving the obstetrical and gynecological needs of women throughout the area.
He will provide a full array of women’s services, complete gynecological services, minimally invasive surgery and complete prenatal to postnatal obstetrical services.
