BRACEVILLE, Ill. — A benefit party featuring food, drinks, raffles, music and karaoke will held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at The Rustic Inn in Wilmington.
The fundraiser will benefit Brian Bolte of Braceville, who is fighting leukemia.
Party with the Pickle, the event’s DJ, will provide music and karaoke. All musicians are welcome to participate in a jam session beginning at 5 p.m.
Cost to attend the event is $10 per person. Children 10 and younger are admitted free.
Bolte, 49, lives in Braceville with his longtime girlfriend, Mary Shields. He is an avid NASCAR fan and Harley Davidson enthusiast.
In March, Bolte went to the doctor to have a bruise checked. He was later diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Bolte was at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago for one month for intensive chemotherapy treatments.
That stay was followed by a week-long stay at Rush every month for the subsequent five months for additional chemotherapy.
As leukemia is a cancer of the blood, he was required to go three times a week for blood and platelet transfusions.
Due to the fact his immune system was severely depleted, and because of his hospital stays, Bolte has been unable to work for the past six months.
He was raised in Shorewood, Ill., by his parents, Ron and Judy Bolte. He is the brother of Sue Graf, Ron Bolte and the late Jeff Bolte.
Brian attended Joliet West High School and Troy School.
