GARDEN PRAIRIE – Marvin Kramer, 65, of Garden Prairie, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his home.
Marvin was born April 1, 1945, in Freeport, the son of William J. and Gertrude L. (Krull) Kramer. He married Peggy Jean Lewis on Nov. 16, 1963, in Biloxi, Miss.
He was employed as a manager with Home Depot for 13 years. He also owned and operated Holiday Acres Camp Ground, Garden Prairie, for 9 years. Marvin enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Garden Prairie; his mother, Gertrude Kramer of Rock Falls; four sons, William (Maria) Kramer of Deatsville, Ala., Wendell (Brigitte) Kramer of Genoa, Wayne (Nicky) Kramer of Belvidere, and Wesley Kramer of Garden Prairie; one sister, Sandra (John) King of Rock Falls; one brother-in-law, Larry Lewis of Sterling; nine grandchildren, Chase Kramer, Kayla (Andy) Burza, Madison Kramer, Zakk Kramer, Brianna Kramer, Ryan Kramer, Logan Kramer, Dalton Kramer, and Alison Kramer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. Rick Koch officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
