Richard F. Miller

Richard F. Miller, 74, Polo, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 9, 2010.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1935 in Sublette, the son of Fred J. and Elizabeth "La Verne" (Wright) Miller.

He married Sharon Smith on Oct. 23, 1959 in Polo.

Miller owned and operated Shaw Oil Company, a full service gas station, from 1967 to 1997.

He was a lifelong Polo resident and graduated from Polo Community High School in the Class of 1954.

He was a devoted family man.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Pamela (Corey) Pratt, Aurora; two sisters, Janet Squibb, Oregon, and June (Merle) Gann, Galesburg; two brothers, Lawrence Miller, Fletcher, N.C., and Myron Miller, Leaf River; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Graveside services were held on July 13 at Farimount Cemetery, Polo, with Rev, Jeremy Heller officiating.

Burial was at Farimount Cemetery, Polo.

Memorials have been established to Faith Discovery Church, Polo, Ogle County Hospice, and the Polo Girls Softball League.

Arrangements were completed by Polo Family Funeral Home.
