Know Your Neighbors: Dawn Olds
, Director of operations

Dawn Olds, 44, is the director of operations at Halo/Lee Wayne, Sterling, where she coordinates operational improvement and manages billing, among other duties.

She lives in Morrison with her husband, Ken Olds, 44. They have two children, Nick Olds, 25, and Stephanie Olds, 23, both of Sterling, and one grandson and one granddaughter.

Dawn is the daughter of Allan Puckett of Morrison and Judie Long of Rock Falls. She has one sister, Tina Rajnowski, 41, of Rock Falls.

On-the-job lesson: Always give 100 percent.

Alma mater: I graduated in 1983 from Rock Falls High School. I earned my associate degree in accounting from Sauk Valley Community College and my bachelor's in information technology from University of Phoenix.

Oughta be a law: People would be required to listen to the other person's side in discussions.

Hearts: Motorcycling, camping, reading, "CSI" and "Criminal Minds."

Darts: Small-minded people and people who waste your time.

Haunts: Home.

Hero: My husband. He has a very strong moral compass.

First job: I was a carhop at the old A&W in Rock Falls when I was 15. It was fun, meeting a lot of different people.

First car: A Dodge Charger when I was 18.

Phobia: Heights.

Guilty pleasure: Sleeping in.

I'd like to meet: President Barack Obama.

In the dictionary next to: Energetic.

Trading places: I'd like to be a grade-school teacher to see what it's like.

Trading spaces: I'd like to go back to Aruba. I've been there and it's great.

Best thing about Morrison: It has very pretty scenery and it still feels like a small town.
