Two file suit against drunk driver and owner of Babe's Tap

Two people injured in an accident at Illinois 47 and Spring Road filed suit in circuit court Friday seeking reasonable damages.

Robert and Lori Burke filed the suit against Juliana Chambers, Peart Road, and Marvin Pepino, doing business as Babe's Tap, 755 S. Broadway, Coal City.

On July 18, 2009, Lori Burke was driving southbound on Illinois 47 when she stopped for the construction zone at Spring Road. Robert Burke was a passenger in her vehicle.

Chambers was also driving southbound on Illinois 47 when she failed to stop and collided with the rear of the car driven by Burke. Both Robert and Lori Burke were injured and are seeking damages.

The complaint also charged Chambers was served liquor at Babe's in Coal City and was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The Burkes are also seeking damages under the state dram shop law.

Chambers was charged with felony DUI and driving with a revoked license after the accident.
