MAPLE PARK – The village has selected a Sycamore law firm to fulfill its legal needs.
On Tuesday, the Maple Park Village Board voted to contract with the Foster & Buick Law Group of Sycamore to become the village's new attorney.
Since June, the village had conducted a search for its new legal advisers after the board's newly elected trustees and Village President Kathy Curtis decided to "explore its options" for new legal representation.
The village had been represented by the firm of Bond, Dickson & Associates of Wheaton.
Last month, village officials interviewed four firms. In all, the village received proposals from 10 attorneys and law firms wishing to represent Maple Park.
Ultimately, the firm of Foster & Buick was recommended to the village board.
Foster & Buick represents several municipalities, including six others in DeKalb County. Partners Keith Foster and Kevin Buick have worked in municipal law for about three decades, according to a release from the village of Maple Park.
Curtis said Foster & Buick's experience in working with small communities in the area will help the village as Foster and Buick "can relate to the challenges we face."
