Plainfield to offer citizen’s police and fire academy

The 12-week program for residents will be held this spring

Plainfield emergency agencies have invited residents to the Plainfield Citizen’s Police & Fire Academy so they can learn how police and firefighters do their jobs.

The academy is a 12-week program which will be held Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. between March 29 and June 14, according to a news release.

Classes are free and conducted at various locations in the village. Sessions include both lectures and hands-on instructions.

Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek and Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton encouraged citizens to enroll in the program.

The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. March 22. There are 25 spots available for the class.

Applications are available for pickup during normal business hours at the Plainfield Police Department, located at 14300 S. Coil Plus Drive. They are also available online at plainfieldil.gov.
