State senator, Joliet salon hosting donor drive for feminine hygiene products

State senator, agencies will collect donations through March 1

Dave Strama, the founder of Union Signs & Printing, said he joined the Sign & Display Local #830 in 2002 and has printed materials for Hug since he first ran for the Joliet City Council.

State Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel and Jagged Edge Salon are collecting feminine hygiene items on behalf of Guardian Angel Community Services in Joliet over the next two weeks.

Loughran Cappel, D-Shorewood, and the Joliet salon are accepting pads, tampons and other feminine products from donors.

Donors can drop off items at two locations. Jagged Edge Salon is located at 3615 Caton Farm Road in Joliet and is accepting items Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Loughran Cappel’s office, located at 1926 Plainfield Road in Crest Hill, is also taking items.

The senator’s office and salon are accepting donations through March 1.

When dropping off items, donors are asked to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, including wearing a mask.

Guardian Angel provides services for individuals who have experienced domestic violence, abuse and sexual assault, as well as training and education to various local entities.

Loughran Cappel is a new state senator representing District 49 which includes all or parts of Joliet, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Shorewood, Crest Hill, Naperville, Aurora and Channahon.
