A woman was shot in the arm during a “potential road rage incident” on North Hickory Street just hours into the morning after Christmas, police said.

Police shut down the area around Hickory Street between Rose and Elsie avenues for most of Sunday, then executed a search warrant on a house on that block early in the evening, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said.

“Right now, we’re questioning witnesses and those believed to potentially be involved,” Clark said after the search was conducted.

The woman was shot about 5 a.m. Sunday, police said.

She was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and treated for an injury that was not life-threatening, Clark said.

The Joliet Police Department’s Special Operations Squad supported the Crest Hill police in shutting down the area and executing the search warrant, said Clark, who expressed his gratitude their assistance.
