Haley Stoklosa scored 12 points, and Lincoln-Way Central picked up a 36-29 win over visiting Lincoln-Way East in a nonconference girls basketball contest Thursday night.
Azyah Newson-Cole added 10 points for the Knights, who improved to 8-4 overall.
Lincoln-Way West 70, Staff 56: At Stagg, Ava Gugliuzza scored 23 points, Tara Gugliuzza added 18, and the Warriors won in Southwest Suburban Conference action.
Evan Pittman and Aubree Schultz each had 10 points in the win.
Gardner-South Wilmington 59, Grant Park 34: At Gardner-South Wilmington, Addi Fair scored 11 of her 19 points in the first half for the Panthers, who improved to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the River Valley Conference.
Kylie Hawks had 10 points and Mya Anderson chipped in seven for GSW, which led 15-6 after one quarter, 34-13 at halftime and 48-26 after three.
Streator 47, Coal City 36: At Coal City, the host Coalers trailed, 19-15, at halftime of the Illinois Central Eight game and then got outscored, 15-9, in the third quarter.
Colleen Feeney had 13 points and six rebounds to lead Coal City (4-6, 4-4), while Audrey Cooper had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Peotone 60, Herscher 32: At Herscher, Mady Kibelkis scored 20 points to lead the Blue Devils.
Madi Schroeder and Jenna Hunter added 10 and nine points, respectively, for Peotone (8-1), which was up 17-7 after one quarter, 30-20 at halftime and 49-25 after three.
Wilmington 30, Reed-Custer 28: At Wilmington, the host Ladycats pulled out the win, as Natalie Van Duyne scored a game-high 13 points.
Reed-Custer was led by Allie Shaw with eight points and Maddie McPherson with seven.
Seneca 47, Henry-Senachwine 33: At Henry-Senachwine, Brooklyn Giertz scored 21 points, Maddie Bromberek added 12, and the Irish capped off their Tri-County Conference championship.
Carly Greve tallied seven points for Seneca (11-1, 8-1), which raced to a 23-12 lead after one quarter.
BOYS SWIMMING
Lincoln-Way Central 102, Andrew 84: At Lincoln-Way Central, Joe Bozzi broke the school record in the 100-yard butterfly, as the Knights improved to 5-3 overall and 5-3 in the Southwest Suburban.
Bozzi now holds nine out of 11 possible school records.
Lincoln-Way West 123, Homewood-Flossmoor 62: At Lincoln-Way West, Sean Finley touched first in the 100 freestyle (48.95) and 100 backstroke (58.82) and also swam on the Warriors’ winning 200 medley (1:45.12) and 400 free (3:46.14) relays.
Lincoln-Way West also received first-place swims from Joe Valente in the 200 free (2:02.25), Gavin Boomsma in the 100 butterfly (58.82) and Jacob Conoboy in the 500 free (5:29.88). Valente and Boomsma each were on two victorious relays, as well.
GIRLS BOWLING
Lincoln-Way East 1,962, Lockport 1,960: At Thunder Bowl Mokena, Daniella D’Aversa’s two-game series of 425 (234 high game) helped the Griffins eke out the Southwest Suburban win.
Jayda Rivera rolled a 416 series with a high game of 266.
For the Porters, Demi Kontos led the way with a match-best 467 series (246 high game), and Cassie Kontos had a 367 series (207 high game).
Oswego 2,979, Joliet Central 2,351: At Parkside Lanes, the Steelwomen dropped the Southwest Prairie dual meet, despite Maddalynn Butler’s 572 series, which included a high game of 204.
Devon Thomas had a 522 series (185 high game) for Joliet Central..
BOYS BOWLING
Lockport 3,100, Lincoln-Way East 2,927: At Lockport, Jimmy Kontos led the victorious Porters in their final dual meet with a 682 series, followed by Alex Frost with 649.
Lockport finished 7-2 overall and 7-1 in the Southwest Suburban. The SWSC tournament is Saturday at Strike & Spare.
Joliet West d. Plainfield Central: At Plainfield Lanes, the Tigers rolled a 3,294 winning eight of the possible 10 points.
Avram Savage led the way with a 695 series, which included a 257 high game. Anthony Lizzio rolled a 690 series with games of 246 and 232. Joey Featherstone (690 series, 258 high game) and Victor Antomez (686, 238) also contributed to the win.
