Will, Grundy and Kendall counties under winter weather advisory

High winds blow snow across Chicago Street in Downtown Joliet.

The National Weather Service has placed the region under a winter weather advisory.

The advisory is in effect for Grundy, Kendall and Will counties until 1 p.m. Monday.

Residents should expect about 1 to 3 inches of snow over the period with blowing snow expected as winds will be gusting up to 45 mph, the NWS said.

Watch out for slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Rain will transition to snow overnight as windy conditions will create hazardous driving conditions into midday Monday, March 16.
