A Joliet man has been arrested on felony charges in connection with a shooting on Sunday but the Illinois State Police would not disclose details of his arrest because it remained under investigation.

About to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Bryson Carter, 26, of the 200 block of Iowa Avenue was taken to the Will County jail on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to the county jail log.

Illinois State Police Trooper Elizabeth Clausing did not provide information about Carter’s arrest on Thursday because it was part of an active investigation.

“In order to protect the integrity of the investigation, no information is available at this time,” Clausing said.

A criminal complaint filed against Carter alleged that he or “one for whose actions he is legally accountable” had discharged a firearm at a man and caused him to suffer gunshot wounds to his left arm and back.

The complaint also alleged Carter or “one whose actions he is legally accountable” had fired a gun in the direction of a vehicle he knows or should have reasonably known was occupied by the man who was shot.
