Petunia Festival lineup announced

DIXON – Area acts will headline the Petunia Festival this year during the smaller-scale event July 2-4.

The festival will include live music, food, family activities, a parade, carnival and fireworks.

Bloomington-Normal country act Brushville will be the July 2 headliner, with Rockford-based County Line Live opening. Chicago cover band Rod Tuffcurls and The Bench Press will headline July 3.

Local band Lyle Grobe and the Rhythm Ramblers will perform after the parade July 4, and Dixon native Gina Venier will go on before the fireworks.

There won’t be a big-name performer this year because of COVID-19.

Other traditional festival activities returning this year include Brush & Bloom, pancakes in the park, the Dixon Municipal Band concert, Nuts About Art, and the Reagan Run, albeit on a smaller scale.

Tickets will be $10 a day at the gate for those 13 and older. Those who show their vaccination card at the gate will not be counted toward capacity limits set by coronavirus restrictions.
