POLO – Polo residents kicked off the holiday season Saturday, Dec. 7, with the community’s sixth annual Christmas festival.
The all-day event presented by the Polo Chamber of Commerce began bright and early at 8 a.m. with donuts and photos with Santa at Crossroads Community Church and a reindeer run to benefit the Polo Public Library.
Beginning at noon, the Polo Historical Society offered free tours that dove into the history of Polo’s schools and churches. The hour-long trolley ride, provided by Gateway Trolley & Shuttle Services, had trips starting at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
By 4 p.m., Polo’s downtown businesses were each filled with sales, activities, live music or photo opportunities with holiday characters like Walt Disney’s Queen Elsa of Arendelle. At 7 p.m., the day was wrapped up with the Parade of Lights, which was done in partnership with Polo High School’s FFA students, and the Christmas tree lighting at Paul’s Park.
