To the Editor:
People take our freedoms for granted. I took care of a Filipino woman over the Fourth of July and she had only one request: that I bring her an American flag. I brought her a small American flag, a party hat and a print of the American flag that we used as a placemat. Every time a drop of food got on the mat, she cleaned it up immediately. She told me stories that were passed on to her by her father of how they fled for freedom during World War II. We watched the Fourth of July telecast from Washington, D.C., and she sang all the American songs with pride and she knew every word. She is a true American and her patriotism puts many to shame.
