A Huntley home suffered damage in a fire Sunday night, according to the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded about 8:45 p.m. Sunday to 41W100 Block of Powers Road in Huntley for a report of a structure fire, Huntley Battalion Chief Eric Bentley said in a news release.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found moderate smoke coming from the garage of a house, but no visible flames, according to the release. Firefighters learned the home’s owner had begun to put out the fire using a garden hose before firefighters arriving on scene.

Huntley firefighters worked to put out the rest of the fire on the outside of the garage and in the attic space above the garage, Bentley said.

No one was injured in the fire and damage is estimated to be about $75,000, according to the release. The cause appears to be accidental, although it remains under investigation.

Huntley firefighters received assistance from seven other departments, including from Algonquin, Pingree Grove, Marengo, Woodstock, Barrington-Countryside, Fox River Grove and Crystal Lake.
