Woman found dead in Crystal Lake died of self-inflicted gunshot wound, coroner’s office says

The woman found dead in the downtown Crystal Lake Metra station parking lot on Sunday died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.

The coroner’s office had released the woman’s cause of death Tuesday evening and clarified that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted the following day.

The 26-year-old Chicago woman was found dead Sunday morning at the train station after police were called to investigate an unconscious person in a car, according to the coroner’s office news release Tuesday.

Crystal Lake police said Monday that there was no threat to public safety and that they were investigating the death.
