McHenry man faces sexual assault charges stemming from 2018

A 54-year-old McHenry man remained at the McHenry County Jail Thursday on three-year-old allegations that he sexually assaulted a child.

Leoncio Renteria-Castilla, of the 3800 block of Waukegan Road, is charged with a Class X felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13. If convicted, Renteria-Castilla could be sentenced to as many as 30 years in prison.

The assault occurred on July 1, 2018, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department criminal complaint.

Renteria-Castilla remained at the county jail Thursday morning on a $150,000 bond. He would need to post $15,000 bail to secure his release.

Renteria-Castilla is scheduled for a bond hearing Friday afternoon. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
