Chicago man charged with first-degree murder following shooting in Carpentersville

A 29-year-old Chicago man was charged with first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon following the Thursday shooting death of a 30-year-old Carpentersville man.

Jamar L. Robinson is accused of firing multiple shots from a handgun about 3:15 a.m. Thursday at Jorge Sanchez, killing him, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Sanchez’s body was found in a hallway of the Foxview apartment complex, located in the zero to 99 block of Oxford Road, Carpentersville, according to the release.

Robinson previously dated a Foxview resident and Sanchez was staying in an apartment next to the former girlfriend’s apartment, according to the release.

Robinson appeared in Kane County bond court on Sunday where Judge Todd Tarter set his bail at $3 million, with 10%, or $300,000, required to apply for bond, according to the release.

His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
