Chicago man charged with holding Cary woman against her will, strangling her

Officers able to find woman after she called police, saying she feared man she was with was going to hurt her

A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested Wednesday after police say he held a Cary woman against her will in her home for about a day, battered her multiple times and threatened to kill her.

An unidentified woman called the Cary Police Department about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, saying she was with a man who she feared was going to hurt her and she needed help from the police, the department said in a news release.

Officers were able to identify the female caller through further investigation and subsequently identify her general whereabouts, according to the release. With assistance from the Crystal Lake Police Department, the woman was located.

Jarrell A. Creekmore, 29, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery through strangulation, two counts of aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint, violation of an order of protection, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the release.

He was taken to the McHenry County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed at a later date, according to the release
