McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office hires new prosecutor

27-year career includes four years as Will County State’s Attorney’s Office felony division supervisor, 12 years in private practice

The former supervisor of Will County State’s Attorney’s Office felony division joined the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office Monday in its criminal division, according to a news release.

The new hire, Neil J. Adams, was most recently in private practice in Joliet for 12 years, specializing in complex felony cases including extensive appellate practice before the Third District Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court, according to the release.

Adams has 27 years of experience, including four years as the felony division supervisor at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to the release. Over his career, he tried many high profile, complicated and serious cases, serving as lead or sole counsel on numerous murder trials.

Neil received his Juris Doctor in 1993, according to the release. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, graduating cum laude from Northern Illinois University.
