Crystal Lake man identified as person killed in fire Sunday

A house fire early Sunday morning in Crystal Lake left one person dead and sent another to the hospital, leaving the home uninhabitable, officials said.

A 64-year-old Crystal Lake man was identified Tuesday as the person killed in a fire early Sunday in Crystal Lake, the McHenry County coroner said.

The fire, which also left another person with injuries tied to smoke inhalation, was reported at 2:43 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Oriole Trail, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department said in a news release Sunday.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office was contacted about 5:30 a.m. by the Crystal Lake Police Department, according to the news release.

Morise Bello, who lived at the home where the fire occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene, Coroner Michael Rein said in the release. An autopsy was performed Tuesday.

Toxicology currently is pending, according to the release.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office continues to work collaboratively with Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, Crystal Lake Police Department, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal on the investigation, Rein said in the release.
