7 area volleyball players named all-state by Champaign News-Gazette

Seven volleyball players from the Northwest Herald area were named to the Champaign News-Gazette’s 39th all-state volleyball team, the newspaper announced Monday.

Crystal Lake Central senior libero Karina Simatos, who will play next year at Bradley, and Jacobs senior outside hitter Maggie Wallenberger (Southern Illinois) were named to the special mention 50.

Five players were named to the honorable mention 100: Jacobs junior setter Rachel Kaczorowski, Crystal Lake Central senior outside hitter Maddy McCormick (Colorado State), Woodstock North sophomore setter Kylie Schulze, Crystal Lake Central senior middle blocker Madeline Timmerman (Eastern Michigan) and Woodstock North sophomore libero Kaitlyn Wickersheim.
