Burlington Central girls top Hampshire behind Taylor Charles’ big game

Taylor Charles put up 16 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for Burlington Central in a 51-34 Fox Valley Conference win over Hampshire on Friday in Burlington.

Emma Payton added 12 points for the Rockets, and Becca Carani had 10 points. Avery Cartee led the Whip-Purs with 17 points.

Crystal Lake Central 65, McHenry 41: At Crystal Lake, Paige Keller led the Tigers to a comfortable FVC win with 18 points, including four 3-pointers.

Katie Hamill was right behind Keller with 17 points in the win, and Olivia Arndt added 11 points. Alyssa Franklin led McHenry with 16 points.

Crystal Lake South 28, Dundee-Crown 26: At Carpentersville, the Gators earned an FVC road win in a close one behind 15 points from Kree Nunnally.

Cary-Grove 55, Jacobs 24: At Algonquin, Emily Lukowski led the Trojans with 21 points in an FVC win over Jacobs on the road.

Emily Larry also hit double digit scoring with 10 points in the second quarter for C-G, while Mackenzie Leahy led the Golden Eagles with 12 points.

Johnsburg 52, Harvard 21: At Harvard, the Skyhawks cruised to victory over the Hornets in Kishwaukee River Conference action.

Macy Madsen led all scorers with 17 points for Johnsburg.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Alden-Hebron 59, Ashton Franklin Center 58 (OT): At Ashton, the Giants overcame an eight-point deficit to force overtime, then won on a go-ahead shot from Ben Gandini with less than 10 seconds left.

Thomas Webber led A-H with 19 points, and Tyler Cunningham scored 15.

Woodstock North 65, Harvard 35: At Woodstock, the Thunder picked up a KRC win. Gabe Filetti led North with 11 points. Nine players scored for the Thunder in the win.

Johnsburg 52, Marengo 49: At Johnsburg, Matt Volkening tied the score for Marengo with seven seconds remaining, but Luke Conroy answered with a game-winning buzzer-beater from beyond the arc to earn the Skyhawks a dramatic KRC win.

Dylan Schmidt led Johnsburg with 21 points, while Volkening led Marengo with 22.

Prairie Ridge 42, Huntley 34: At Crystal Lake, the Wolves snagged an FVC win at home over the Red Raiders.

James Muse led Prairie Ridge with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Jackson Otto added 11 points in the win. Ben Ahmer scored nine for Huntley.

Dundee-Crown 41, Crystal Lake South 33: At Carpentersville, Zach Ryza led the Chargers with 13 points in an FVC win at home over the Gators.

Cooper LePage and Arnav Jain added 12 points each for D-C.
