Karsen Karlblom scores 31, leads Prairie Ridge girls past McHenry

Prairie Ridge’s Karsen Karlblom put together a big-time scoring performance for the Wolves in a 53-33 Fox Valley Conference girls basketball win over McHenry on Friday in McHenry.

Karlblom, who made four 3-pointers, was only two points shy of tying the opposition, scoring 31 in the first three quarters. Elani Nanos added 11 points for the Wolves (4-2, 1-1 FVC).

Alyssa Franklin had 10 points for McHenry (2-4, 0-2). Lynette Alsot scored nine.

Huntley 54, Jacobs 24: At Huntley, the Red Raiders had no trouble getting past the Golden Eagles in an FVC victory. Jessie Ozzauto had 17 points for Huntley (5-1, 2-0 FVC) and Jori Heard and Mallory Winters added 10 apiece.

Mackenzie Leahy had eight points to lead Jacobs (2-5, 1-1).

Crystal Lake Central 41, Crystal Lake South 14: At Crystal Lake, the visiting Tigers took a 24-3 lead at the end of the first quarter in their FVC game.

Kate Hamill had 19 points, five rebounds and 12 steals, and Olivia Arndt had 11 points for Central (4-4, 2-0 FVC).

South (2-4, 1-1) was led by Nicole Molgado with five points and seven rebounds.

Johnsburg 52, Harvest Christian 23: At Johnsburg, the Skyhawks (4-4) were led by Macy Madsen with 18 points and three 3s in a nonconference win. Kaylee Fouke had eight points.

Marian Central 50, Westlake Christian 31: At Grayslake, the Hurricanes (2-5) picked up the nonconference win over the Eagles.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Richmond-Burton 52, North Boone 22: At Richmond, the Rockets rolled to a nonconference win behind 18 points from Maddox Meyer.

Crystal Lake South 60, Crystal Lake Central 34: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (4-2, 2-0) defeated the visiting Tigers to pick up an FVC win.

Isaiah Kirkeeng led all scorers with 21 points, and Arnav Jain added 20 in the victory.

Carmel 74, Marian Central 59: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes lead 26-23 at halftime, but could not hold off the Corsairs in their East Suburban Catholic Conference game.

Cale McThenia led the ‘Canes with 19, Jake Giangreco added 16 and Christian Bentancur had 14.

GIRLS BOWLING

Johnsburg 2,151, McHenry 2,074: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, the Skyhawks picked up their second road win in as many matches, led by a 494 series from Norah Mungle.

Mungle had a match-high game of 198 in the final game to close things out and Miranda Stumpff had a 452 series and a 183 high game.

Emily Carpenter led McHenry with a match high 529 series in the loss.

WRESTLING

McHenry 55, Prairie Ridge 18: At Crystal Lake, the Warriors picked up an FVC win to improve to 2-0 in the FVC and 7-0 overall.

Ryan Hanson (106), Chris Moore (170), Gavin Wegner (182), Nick Garantziotis (195), Luke Zunkel (220) and Jesse Saavedra (285) each won by pin for McHenry.

Xander York (145) had a pin for Prairie Ridge.

Harvard 61, Genoa-Kingston 12: At Harvard, the Hornets scored a one-sided win over the Cogs.

Crystal Lake Central 50, Crystal Lake South 26: At Crystal Lake, Arlo Ayares (106), Cayden Parks (145), Connor Lezama (160), Ben Butler (170) and Mitch Helm (220) had pins for the Tigers in an FVC home win over the Gators.
