Woodstock wrestling team defeats Johnsburg

Woodstock’s wrestling team picked up a Kishwaukee River Conference dual victory over Johnsburg, 54-11, in Kishwaukee River Conference action on Tuesday in Woodstock.

Tim Hunt earned a pin at 160 pounds for the Blue Streaks, and Gavin Loiselle did the same at 220.

Dundee-Crown 47, Crystal Lake South 35: At Carpentersville, the Chargers came out on top against the Gators in their Fox Valley Conference dual.

Michael Haro (126 pounds), Patrick Sierzputowski (132), Matt Impastato (145), Antowne Dantzler (160), Enrique Diaz (170), Lieth Porter (195) and Juan Jasso (220) won for D-C.

Josh Glover (113), Amador Castro (120), Anthony Bradburn (138), Lukas Bjork (152), Shane Moran (182) and Andy Burburijia (285) picked up wins for South.

McHenry 48, Crystal Lake Central 24: At Crystal Lake, the Warriors snagged an FVC win by doubling up the Tigers.

Jimmy Norris (113), Lucas Van Diepen (120), Pedro Jimenez (126), Ryan Nagel (132), Rocky Piehl (138), Brody Hallin (160), Chris Moore (170) and Luke Zunkel (220) won for McHenry.

Crystal Lake Central got wins from Caden Panks (145), Dillon Carisun (152), Thomas Metz (182) and Leo Diaz (285).

Jacobs 66, Cary-Grove 12: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles picked up the FVC dual win over the Trojans.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marengo 41, Rockford Christian 39: At Marengo, Morgan Coffman hit two clutch free throws with a little more than a second remaining to give the Indians (4-3) the nonconference victory.

Coffman finished with four points and 10 rebounds, and Bella Frohling led the offense with 14 points.

Wednesday’s late result

Lakes 40, Woodstock 36: At Lake Villa, Jania Lejman scored 14 points for the Blue Streaks (0-6) in a nonconference loss to the Eagles. Anna Crenshaw had eight points, and Keira Bogott added five in her first varsity start.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wednesday’s late result

Rockford Lutheran 80, Marian Central 76: At Woodstock, Cale McThenia scored 24 points for the Hurricanes, but a strong second half for Lutheran was too much to overcome.

Jake Giangrego added 20 points, and Christian Bentancur scored 17 in the loss.

GIRLS BOWLING

Marengo 2,449, Oregon 2,373: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, Grace Wzientek led Marengo with a 524 series and a high game of 203 in the victory.

BOYS BOWLING

Marengo 3,370, Oregon 3,152: At Glo Bowl, Hunter Pankow bowled a 705 series and a high game of 263 in the win.

Huntley 3,152, Woodstock 2,627: At Bowl-Hi Lanes in Huntley, the Red Raiders cruised to victory on the strength of a 687 series from Hayes Porsche. Porsche also had a high game of 258, and Nick Zummo had a 666 series and a high game of 268.
