High school sports roundup for Friday, Oct. 22

Juan Pacheco and Miguel Penz scored goals for Dundee-Crown as the Chargers defeated Larkin, 2-1, in the Class 3A Harlem Boys Soccer Regional championship.

The Chargers (14-3-2) advance to the Huntley Sectional where they will meet the host Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is D-C’s third consecutive season with a regional title.

Huntley 4, DeKalb 0: At DeKalb, the Red Raiders (18-2-2) shut down the Barbs and secured the Class 3A DeKalb Regional championship and advanced to sectionals.

Hayes Porsche scored twice for Huntley, while Zach Stocker an Hudson Nielsen scored once each. Huntley has won back-to-back regional championships.

GIRLS TENNIS

Class 1A State Finals: Richmond-Burton’s Savannah Webb fell out of contention for a state title, but is still alive in the consolation bracket following day two of state tournament action.

Webb dropped her state quarterfinal match 6-4, 6-3 to Wolcott’s Brooklyn Siegel, but bounced back with a 7-6, 6-2 consolation victory over Richwoods’ Julia Wojtowicz. Webb will have a shot at fifth place in Class 1A if she can pick up two wins on Saturday.

Johnsburg’s Gracie Cittadino lost, 6-4, 6-0, in the fifth round of the consolation bracket to St. Thomas More’s Maddy Swisher.
