Huntley’s Bri Bower fans all 12 Cary-Grove hitters in 4-inning romp

Huntley pitcher Bri Bower faced 12 batters in her four innings in the circle Wednesday and struck out every one of them in a 15-0 home victory over Cary-Grove.

The Red Raiders backed Bower’s immaculate effort with a 13-run second inning that considerably shortened the length of the contest. Katie Mitchell was 3 for 3 with a double, five RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases, Bower was 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs and Alex Kiriakopolous was 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, two runs and two RBIs.

The Red Raiders are 15-5 and 9-0 in Fox Valley Conference play.

Prairie Ridge 11, Dundee-Crown 0 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, the Wolves rode an excellent outing from Elena Smith to a five-inning shutout win over the Chargers.

Smith allowed no runs on three hits in the shutout while helping her own cause with a triple and an RBI. Bella Crimaldi had three hits with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, and Emily Harlow homered and drove in three runs.

The Wolves are 5-6 overall and 5-5 in FVC play.

Woodstock North 8, Harvard 3 (8 inn.): At Harvard, the Thunder finally caught fire in extra innings, scoring five runs in the top of the eighth to take down the Hornets.

Addison Salazar pitched all eight innings to earn the win, allowing three runs – two earned – on eight hits and no walks while striking out 13.

Mackenzie Salazar was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the offense.

Hampshire 5, Crystal Lake South 4: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs picked up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth then held on for a one-run win at home.

Noelle Scott went the distance for the Whips, allowing four earned on seven hits and striking out six in seven innings. Mikayla Snider homered and drove in three runs to lead the offense.

Alexis Pupillo was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for South.

Burlington Central 5, Crystal lake Central 1: At Crystal Lake, the Rockets took a lead in the top of the first and never looked back in a road victory over the Tigers.

The Rockets’ Savannah L’Huilllier was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Danielle Durckel earned the win, allowing one earned on four hits and no walks while striking out nine over seven innings.

Katie Svigelj was 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and a run for the Tigers.

BASEBALL

Johnsburg 8, Harvard 1: At Harvard, the Skyhawks allowed only one run on two hits in a comfortable win over the Hornets on the road.

Joey Hagen was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, two runs, an RBI and a walk in the victory, while Alex Delulio and Jake Metze knocked in a pair of runs each.

Ian Boal got the win for Johnsburg, allowing one earned run on two hits and seven walks while striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings.

Woodstock North 12, Richmond-Burton 1 (5 inn.): At Richmond, a big fifth inning in which the Thunder scored seven runs broke the game wide open on the road against the Rockets.

Jared Spung was 1 for 2 with two walks, a home run and two RBIs, and Morgan Klinker was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the win. Felipe DeAvila notched the win, fanning 10 Rockets while allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks over five innings.

GIRLS SOCCER

Johnsburg 1, Marengo 0: At Marengo, an early goal from Aliyah Andersen stood up for the Skyhawks in a road win.

Sophie Person made four saves in the clean sheet win as Johnsburg improved to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the Kishwaukee River Conference.

St. Viator 5, Marian Central 0: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes suffered a tough loss at home to St. Viator, allowing two goals in the first half and three more after the intermission.

Richmond-Burton 4, Woodstock 0: At Richmond, the Rockets remain unbeaten in the KRC at 6-0 after a comfortable win at home over the Blue Streaks.

Margaret Slove, Jordan Otto, Layne Frericks and Brianna Maldonado all scored once for R-B in the victory, while Hannah Schlibinger made four saves to earn the shutout.

WRESTLING

Jacobs 48, McHenry 27: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles defended their home floor with a solid win over the Warriors.
