Traffic lights restored at Lake in the Hills intersection

emergency lights

The traffic lights at Randall Road and Acorn Lane in Lake in the Hills were “not functioning” for a couple of hours Tuesday afternoon, Lake in the Hills police said.

Police said about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday the intersection was temporarily a four-way stop because of the outage, which was creating congestion.

Police said people were to avoid the intersection until further notice.

A follow-up alert sent out at 2:53 p.m. said the lights were back up and people should use the intersection as normal.

McHenry County Division of Transportation Public Information Officer Hans Varga said contractors were out looking at the issue. He confirmed Randall Road construction was not the cause of the outage. Randall Road is a county road.
