Crystal Lake police add new K-9 to the team

K-9 Osaka is the newest member of the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The Crystal Lake Police Department is welcoming a new K-9 member to the team.

Police announced in a Facebook post Friday that K-9 Osaka joined the department. The dog is paired with officer Peter Lewandowski, and they are currently training together through the TOPS Police K-9 program, according to the post.

The addition comes after the department’s last K-9, Zeus, died in July from a cancer-related medical emergency. Zeus served the department for seven years as officer Ryan Schack’s partner.
