More rain, high winds and possibly snow mixed in across northern Illinois remainder of week

A mix of rain, possibly light snow, and more gusting winds are expected over the remainder of the week.

Rain will continue through Wednesday afternoon, possibly mixing with or changing to light snow in areas far north of Interstate 80.

The National Weather Service said to expect very windy conditions on Thursday night and into Friday with gusts 45 mph or higher possible.

There is some potential for gusts to exceed 55 mph, the NWS said.

Chances for more rain and possibly snow this weekend with colder temperatures returning next week, forecasts said.
