May Merriment 39 at Marquette Academy

With better weather on the horizon, it’s time to think spring, which means that the 39th annual Marquette May Merriment is fast approaching!

On May 15, 2021, “The Blue & Gold Gala” dinner/auction will commence to celebrate Marquette in very special ways. A limited capacity, outdoor event with virtual opportunities is being planned. All guidelines and updated protocols will be strictly adhered to for the safety of guests.

The first of its kind in the area, Marquette May Merriment is a catered dinner with a silent and live auction to raise money for K-12 Catholic education. For 39 years, it has been the largest fundraiser at Marquette Academy. The event has regularly raised $180,000 on average, with funds going directly to financial aid for students, and assisting in the school’s upgrades and operating costs.

“Our children have been largely impacted by the pandemic,” Marquette Advancement Director, Julie Verona said. “They’ve missed out on numerous activities and milestones that are crucial to their social, educational, and spiritual growth. This year’s event will celebrate all things Marquette, and give a much-deserved salute to our faculty and staff who have worked so hard to keep our students safely engaged and learning through the pandemic.”

This year’s May Merriment committee chairpeople are: Mary and Pete McGrath, Diane and Charlie Mitchell, and Amy and Dan Thomas. Each year, the committee plans and works on fundraising events that lead up to May Merriment.

Highlighting this year’s event, are a chance to win a full year’s tuition, and the Big Cash raffle with a grand prize of $25,000 in cash, plus five other cash prizes!

Community support is crucial to Marquette Academy’s success. With a variety of donated items and services ranging in value and category, there is something for everyone at May Merriment! It’s a great way to support K-12 education and showcase the local friends, alumni and businesses who support us year after year, all while having a great time.
