Participants will make a shamrock garland out of recycled books

The following events are scheduled the remainder of February, beginning with the week of Feb. 21 at Reddick Library, 1010 Canal St., Ottawa. Call 815-434-0509 for information.

10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22: Ready, Set, Read! ages 3 to 6 years. A story time to help children develop literacy skills and prepare for school. Pre-registration is required. Contact the library for details.

10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23: Shake, Rattle, Read! ages 9-36 months. A fun, musical story time. Pre-registration is required. Contact the library for details.

6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23: Radial Relief Paper Sculpture, sixth through eighth grades. Create a masterpiece. Learn about how radial symmetry and three origami type folds can create a beautiful sculpture with paper.

6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24: Gamer’s Group, ninth through 12th grades. Play video games while taking a break from homework. The library has Wii, Playstation 4, and XBOX 360 Kinect.

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26: The Loop Group, adults. Learn to knit or crochet in a friendly environment with knowledgeable people.

6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28: Shamrock garland: crafter hours, adults. Supplies will be provided for participants to make a festive shamrock garland using recycled books. Registration is required as spots are limited due to supplies. To reserve a spot for this class, call the library or stop by the front Circulation Desk.
