TC Energy Foundation grant funds construction of simulated ambulance for Indian Valley Vocational Center

Ambulance will help students in several programs

Thanks to a $9,000 donation from TC Energy Foundation, students in several programs at Indian Valley Vocational Center will have enhanced learning experiences.

The grant provides funds to purchase materials for a simulated ambulance that will be used by emergency medical services students in the IVVC laboratory to practice transporting patients on a gurney to and from an ambulance, and working in an actual ambulance setting. The ambulance will be constructed by IVVC construction trades students. The medical equipment for the ambulance was donated by another entity.

The grant also funds the purchase of a basic washing machine which will be used to launder bed sheets and towels, allowing for a safe, clean lab environment for the IVVC hospital room lab where CNA students practice skills required for certification. The washing machine will also be utilized to clean clothing from teaching manikins and for uniforms worn by fire science students.

Finally, the grant will fund a Snap-on wheel balancer for the IVVC automotive technology shop, which students will use to learn how to properly balance the different types and styles of wheel and tire assemblies found on the sophisticated, modern vehicles driven today.

TC Energy has a regional office in Sandwich and operates the nearby ANR Pipeline. The foundation has helped Indian Valley Vocational Center fund other innovative projects in recent years. Participating school districts include Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Leland, Newark, Plano, Sandwich, Serena, Somonauk and Yorkville.
