Adults can make a winter terrarium at Reddick Library class in Ottawa

The following events are scheduled the weeks of Dec. 20 and 27 at Reddick Library, 1010 Canal St., Ottawa. Call 815-434-0509 for information. The library will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 25; as well as Friday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 1.

1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20: Mystery Monday Book Club, adults. The book “One by One” by Ruth Ware will be discussed at this librarian-run book club. New members are always welcome. Copies of the book are available for check out from the library.

5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21: Movie Night, ages 13 and older. This month’s feature will be “Jungle Cruise” (Rated PG-13). A small riverboat takes group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element.

6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23: Gingerbread ornaments, sixth through eighth grades. Come transform mini terra cotta pots into the sweetest gingerbread ornaments to hang on the tree or give as a gift.

6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27: Crafter hours, adults. Participants will make a “no-care” winter terrarium to enjoy during the upcoming chilly months. Registration is required as spots are limited. To reserve a spot for this class, call the library or stop at the front circulation desk.

2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28: Kaleidoscopes: Colors in Motion, kindergarten through second grade. Who doesn’t like turning a kaleidoscope and watching the colors change. Come and make one of your own.

4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28: Games, Games, and Games, sixth through 12th grades. Come celebrate National Card Playing Day. The library will have Cards Against Humanity (Family Edition), Uno, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and regular card games.

2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30: Spy Camp, third through fifth grades. “The Mysterious Benedict Society.” You’ve read the books. You’ve seen the series on Disney. Now come to a camp and learn how to be spies.

4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30: Pondering Puzzles, sixth through 12th grades. Whether you sort by color or work all the outside pieces first, you’re sure to enjoy these puzzles. Come on down for some puzzling fun and bring your friends.
