State Rep. Welter announces re-election bid

Lawmaker’s district includes eastern portion of La Salle County

State Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) announced his intention to run for re-election in the newly-drawn 75th Illinois House of Representative District, including parts of Grundy, DeKalb, La Salle and Kendall counties.

“Serving as your state representative is the honor of a lifetime, and I am excited to launch my re-election campaign to continue working on behalf of district residents,” Rep. Welter said in a press release. “A representative’s main responsibility is to advocate for the economic interests of the district. Earlier this year, we were able to protect local jobs, home values, and critical funding for area school district by passing legislation to strengthen Illinois’ reputation as a prominent energy-producing state.”

Welter has served in office since 2016. He’s the minority spokesman for the Energy and Environment committee and the Republican Conference Chairman in the House Republican Caucus.

David, his wife Ashley, and their three young children reside in Morris.
