Ottawa police seek info on rash of auto burglaries

Incidents occurred on Briarcrest Drive, Cimmaron Way and Thornberry Drive

Ottawa Police Department have taken numerous reports of multiple vehicles being burglarized mostly on Ottawa’s southwest side, police said in a Monday press release.

The incidents mostly occurred on Briarcrest Drive, Cimmaron Way and Thornberry Drive. Three motor vehicles also were stolen during these occurrences.

Most victim vehicles appear to have been unlocked. Multiple surveillance videos were obtained that show numerous suspects pulling on door handles of various vehicles in the area around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The public is encouraged to keep their vehicles locked at all times and to keep the vehicle keys inside their residence. Anyone with information regarding the crimes or video footage from the area is encouraged to contact the Ottawa Police Department at 815-433-2131.
