A Leland man was cited Thursday night after police said he struck a railroad overpass in Shabbona with a boom truck and left the scene.
Devin K. Simpson-Cannuli was cited on complaints of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, no valid registration and operating an uninsured vehicle, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said. He also was arrested by Leland police on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant on a charge of a traffic offense.
Deputies said the railroad company reported a boom truck hit the railroad overpass at 6:41 p.m. Thursday on Shabbona Grove Road and left the scene. Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle. Deputies said after the vehicle was located, Simpson-Cannuli admitted to driving it and striking the overpass, then leaving the scene.
Simpson-Cannuli was released with a DeKalb County court date.
