Ottawa council will buy $500k generator for water plant

Power went out for 3 days during last year’s derecho

The Ottawa City Council approved Tuesday a quote for $498,840 for a walk-in generator at the city’s water plant.

Commissioner Tom Ganiere said the power went out for three days during last year’s derecho and the city’s water supply was dangerously low, and had there been a fire, the city would have been in a tough spot.

The generator is being purchased from Precision Systems.
