Ottawa utilizes new ambulance

Ambulance bought in January, went into use earlier this month

The Ottawa Fire Department put its new ambulance — Medic 6 — into service earlier this month.

Just Thursday, the Ottawa Firefighters Local 523 reported Medic 6, Medic 8 and Engine 2 staffed with seven first responders answered 33 emergency calls in a 24-hour span.

The Ottawa City Council approved the ambulance purchase in January of $251,950 from North Central Emergency Vehicles. The new ambulance replaced one that had reached high mileage.
