The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a virtual public hearing Wednesday, May 5, to get comment about the proposed permanent removal of the Nettle Creek Road bridge over Interstate 80 in Grundy County.

Registration is required and can be done by emailing Reeve.Sainvil@Illinois.gov.

The Nettle Creek Road bridge is located about one mile west of the Seneca interchange (Exit 105). The proposed project includes permanent removal of the bridge and building cul-de-sacs on Nettle Creek Road. Resurfacing improvements will be performed on Morey Road and Seneca Road north of the interchange, and intersections will be improved as necessary. Temporary closures of intersecting local roads and entrances are anticipated during construction. Also, additional right of way will be required at the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Nettle Creek and Marseilles roads.

The public hearing will be conducted in a virtual format with a project presentation starting at 5 p.m. IDOT personnel will be available to provide information, answer questions and receive comments. Appropriate written questions can be submitted in advance by email at Reeve.Sainvil@Illinois.gov or during the hearing using the chat feature and will be answered as time allows. The virtual hearing will be recorded and available on the project website athttps://idot.illinois.gov/projects/nettle-creek-road-over-i-80-project-study.html.

To request reasonable accommodations, call 815-434-8582 or 800-526-0857 (TTY: 800-526-0844) by Friday, April 30.

Exhibits, maps, and plans will be available for review during the hearing and following the hearing on the project website. Comments received by Wednesday, May 19, will be made part of the public record and considered as the preliminary engineering study is finalized.
