The Times sports staff wins third place in state contest

Former reporter Brent Bader earns a fourth place award for his Streator Eagle 6 article

The Times sports section was given recognition in the 2020 Illinois Press Association Editorial Contest.

The sports department made up of Regional Sports Editor J.T. Pedelty, and reporters Charlie Ellerbrock and Brian Hoxsey were awarded third place in the overall sports section category.

Additionally, former Times reporter Brent Bader was awarded fourth place recognition in business/economic reporting for his article “Eagle 6 hopes idea takes off.”

All winners will be formally announced Friday, May 7, during the IPA Best of the Press Awards at the IPA/IPF Virtual Convention from May 5-7.
