Ottawa and Streator YMCAs hit the ‘reset’ button

Membership not necessary to participate in this program

The Ottawa and Streator YMCAs are hosting a free Reset challenge with the aim of helping people reenergize their spirit, mind and body.

“Now, more than ever before we need to recharge and refocus,” Ottawa YMCA CEO Joe Capece said. “The COVID-19 pandemic has worn us down. It has isolated us in so many ways. This challenge provides an opportunity to get active and healthier by yourself or as a strong family.”

Those wishing to participate can opt-in by texting “RESET” to 844-526-1350 for the program, which starts Monday.

Participants will receive three texts a week with motivation, challenges, workouts and more.

These programs are free, and membership is not necessary to participate.

Also available is the Nationwide Virtual Y, which is a free online program with on-demand classes that include Zumba, yoga, HIIT and others. Programming for children also is available.

A fitness kit and completion shirt will be given to all members who participate for the duration of the program.

This program is being sponsored by OSF St. Elizabeth HealthCare and Ottawa Dental Laboratories.
