Ottawa Fire Department will buy new tower truck

Commissioners will discuss financing of truck at February meeting

Ottawa Police Department

The Ottawa City Council approved the $1,537,500 purchase of a new tower truck to replace the Ottawa Fire Department’s old truck.

Commissioner James Less said the current tower truck is nearing the end of its life expectancy and the city was able to save some money by getting the order in prior to Feb. 1. Payments will not be due until February 2022.

The financing on the purchase hasn’t been figured out yet, although Less said it will be the subject of discussion at the February City Council meeting.
