IVCC board selects Everett Solon as board chairman

Solon and Maureen Rebholz were reelected April 6 to 6-year terms

Everett Solon of Streator was elected Illinois Valley Community College board chairman at a reorganizational meeting Monday.

Solon joined the board in 2013 and was reelected April 6. He had served as vice chairman under Jane Goetz since April 2017. He previously served on the Streator High School board for 18 years, 14 as president.

Jay McCracken was elected vice chairman and Angie Stevenson as secretary. The board reappointed Walter J. Zukowski as board attorney, Vice President for Business Services and Finance Cheryl Roelfsema as treasurer and Judy Day as secretary to the board.

Solon announced committee appointments:

  • Audit finance – McCracken chairman, Amy Boyles and Maureen Rebholz.
  • Facilities – David Mallery chairman, Rebholz and Stevenson.
  • Planning – Goetz chairman, Boyles and McCracken.
  • Closed session minutes – Stevenson chairman, Goetz and Mallery.

In other business, the IVCC board appointed Goetz as the Illinois Community College Trustees Association representative and Boyles as the alternate.

The board also confirmed the results of the April 6 consolidated election, in which Solon and Rebholz of La Salle were reelected to six-year terms, and set its 2021-22 meetings in Room C307 for 6:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month.

Lastly, the board approved the appointment of Matt Seaton as vice president for business services and finance to replace the retiring Roelfsema. His first day is June 17.
