Woman flown to hospital after fall down stairs at Starved Rock

Utica firefighters responded to Owl Canyon

A woman was flown Tuesday afternoon to a Peoria medical center by helicopter from Starved Rock State Park for injuries sustained in a fall down a stairs.

Utica Fire Chief Ben Brown said Utica Fire and EMS were called shortly before 1 p.m. to Owl Canyon. There, a 27-year-old suburban woman suffered what Brown called “a medical emergency” and then fell about 12 steps.

The victim was then transferred to OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Brown said. A condition report was not immediately available, but Brown said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

This is the first fall victim at Starved Rock of 2021 transferred by helicopter, Brown said.
